Pool Heat Guide: Maximizing Your Florida Villa Experience
🏊 Optional Pool & Spa Heat
To ensure your swimming experience is perfect regardless of the season, we offer optional pool and spa heating for our villas. While the Florida sun is warm, the water temperature can fluctuate, and many guests find that heating adds that extra layer of luxury to their stay.
🌡️ Why Consider Pool Heat?
- Year-Round Comfort: From October through May, Florida nights can get cool. Pool heat ensures the water stays at a comfortable 85-88°F.
- The Spa Experience: If your villa features a spillover spa, pool heat is required to get that relaxing "hot tub" temperature.
- Morning & Evening Swims: Heat allows the kids to jump in early in the morning or for the adults to enjoy a relaxing dip after the parks close.
📋 Important Things to Know
- Advance Notice: We recommend requesting pool heat at least 24-48 hours before arrival. It takes time for thousands of gallons of water to reach the target temperature! ⏳
- Weather Impact: Electric heat pumps work by pulling heat from the air. If the outside temperature drops below 55°F, the heater may struggle to maintain maximum temperature—a common reality for all Florida vacation homes. 🌬️
- Consistency: To keep the heat in, we recommend keeping the pool doors closed and, if provided, using the pool blanket overnight during cooler months. 🌙
💰 Pricing & Booking
- Standard Rates: Pool heat is typically an additional daily charge. Check your specific quote or the "Add-Ons" section of your reservation for current pricing.
- How to Add: You can opt-in during the booking process or contact us directly to add it to an existing reservation.
⚙️ Choose Your Comfort Level
- Option 1: Full Pool & Spa Heating 🏊♂️🔥 Recommended for cooler months to ensure both the main pool and the spa are consistently warm and inviting.
- Option 2: Spa Heating Only 🧖♀️✨ A perfect choice for the summer! Keep the main pool natural while enjoying the therapeutic warmth of a 102°F spa after a day at the parks.
🗓️ Should I Opt-In for My Entire Stay?
While it may be tempting to request heating for only a few days of your trip, we strongly recommend opting in for your entire stay. Here’s why:
-
Warmth on Demand 🕒 Orlando pools can take 24–48 hours to reach their target temperature. By heating for your full stay, you ensure the water is ready the moment you want to dive in—no waiting required.
-
Consistency is Key 🌡️ As external temperatures drop overnight, pool water loses heat rapidly. Maintaining a steady temperature throughout your stay is more efficient and ensures the water never feels "chilly" during those early morning or late-night swims.
-
Simplified Planning 📝 Most of our villas require the heating option to be taken for the full duration of the reservation. This ensures our maintenance teams can properly calibrate the equipment before your arrival for a seamless experience.
"We heated the pool and spa for the first 4 days... we did miss having the heat in the spa the last few days and would pay for the heat the whole week next time." — Renee, Waterford, WI
❓ Frequently Asked Questions about Pool Heat
📅 Should I Get Pool Heat? A Month-by-Month Guide
In Central Florida, water temperatures vary significantly throughout the year. Use this guide to help decide if pool and spa heat is right for your stay.
| Time of Year | Recommendation | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| June – August | Optional | The Florida sun usually keeps pools in the low 80s. You only need heat if you prefer "bathwater" temperatures or want the spa to reach 100°F. ☀️ |
| Sept – Oct | Recommended | As the nights get shorter and cooler, pool temperatures begin to drop. Heat ensures the water stays inviting for evening swims. 🌅 |
| Nov – Feb | Essential | To enjoy your pool during the winter months, heating is required. Without it, the water will likely be too cold for most swimmers. ❄️ |
| March – May | Highly Recommended | While the days are beautiful, the water takes time to warm up naturally. Heating ensures a consistent, comfortable temperature for your spring break. 🌷 |
If your villa features a spillover spa, please note that it shares the same water as the pool. To enjoy a hot, bubbling spa experience, pool heat must be turned on. 🤷♀️
- How long does it take for the pool to warm up?
⏳ Heating a swimming pool is a gradual process. Depending on the starting temperature and the outside air, it can take 24 to 48 hours for the water to reach its target temperature. This is why we recommend requesting heat at least two days before your arrival!
- What temperature can I expect?
🌡️ Our heaters are typically set to maintain a comfortable 85°F to 88°F (29°C - 31°C). Please note that if the outside air temperature drops significantly (below 55°F), the efficiency of the heat pump may decrease, as it relies on ambient air to create warmth.
- Does the spa heat up faster than the pool?
🧖♀️ Yes! Because the spa contains a smaller volume of water, it will reach higher temperatures (up to 100°F+) much faster than the main pool. However, in our villas, the pool and spa share the same filtration system, so the pool heater must be "On" for the spa to get hot.
- Is pool heat necessary in the summer?
☀️ It is purely a personal choice! While the Florida sun naturally warms the main pool during the summer, many guests prefer their spa to be much hotter. We offer the flexibility to heat the spa only, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing, bubbling soak at 100°F+—the perfect way to unwind after a late night at the parks.|
- Can I turn the heat on after I arrive?
📞 Yes, you can! However, remember that the water will still need that 24-48 hour window to reach the desired temperature. To get the most "swim time" for your money, it is always best to book it in advance.
- What about the community pools?
🏊♂️ If you are staying in one of our townhomes (like Timon’s Magic), you have full access to the Emerald Island Resort Clubhouse pools, which are heated by the resort during the cooler months at no additional cost to you!
